1st run out, when?

Hi all

I think it was almost a year ago I made my 1st post about getting into cycling but due to work commitments and so on I never got round to it. Fortunate a few weeks ago I purchased a Giant SCR3 from Roe valley cycles so that's the easy part out of the way Smile

For now I've been getting up before work, so setting clock for around 6am and heading out on my own for a short 6 mile run, its going ok but I think I would struggle with any kind of group ride and the last thing I would want to do is slow down a ride. But if i'm being honest I would say the 6am rides are not the best way to enjoy cycling, bloody lonely at that time of the morning.

Anyone know anyone in a similar position to me that might be interested in hooking up for some regular rides together with the aim to building up speed/fitness for a group ride?

Brian,,,,sorry for the delay in this reply but you know, we all started the exact same way..no-one wants to feel like they are holding back the group, but believe me, no-one is left behind and the ethos of the club is to encourage people just like you to come and enjoy it. Believe me it is no fun being dropped and cycling home on your home. All I can say is, come along and try it with the group, you will not be left behind

After 30 odd reads I almost gave up Smile

I went out on thursday night for a half decent run, for me at least. Just under 10 miles with an average speed of 16mph. Had one stop along the way but was suprised at how quickly I recovered.

Went down the glenshane road, accross the Ardlough road, back in the clooney road and then limavady road, up glendermott road and back to knightsbridge.

Im going to try that again tomorrow and hopefully get out with you lot on saturday of next week if there is a run?

Club runs are normally at 9am ish from Templemore Leisure Center. There should be a run next Saturday.
